Located in Newark, New Jersey, the Newark Boys Chorus School has offered tuition-free education and musical training to students in grades 4-8 since 1969. NBCS currently serves 50 kids, all students of color, and relies on community support to operate.

Our former intern and on-going collaborator, Salim Green, introduced Something Special Studios to the story of NBCS in early 2020. Salim had recently begun working with the school and was floored by the passion, talent, and community present within the school, students, and faculty. The team at SSS was incredibly moved, to say the least, and were immediately inspired to begin a relationship with the institution.

Something Special Studios collaborates with the school ongoing, most recently designing, producing, and releasing seasonal merch collections inspired by the NBCS uniforms. To date, SSS has launched three collections with all sales benefiting the school.
