The Black Creative Endeavors Grant was an initiative launched by Something Special Studios in the Summer of 2020, in an effort to further amplify the work of creators in the Black community. With this grant, dedicated to creatives in all fields with a new or existing initiative in need of support, SSS was able to disperse $24,000 in funding, in addition to our services and resources, to eight, inspiring individuals from around the world. Sade May (Black Girl Chronicles), Lisa Wright (Diaspora Threads), Will Harris (Evelyn Beckett), Christa Barfield (FarmerJawn Community Greenhouses), Ania Freer (REAL TALK), Eyiwaa Agyekumhene (KAYADUA), Jamil Baldwin (Locally Grown TV), and Dillon Carmichael (Redefining Black Masculinity) were selected as our final recipients out of over 1,500 submissions. Their unique work lives across art, film, photography, food, fashion, musical theater, and community arts. SSS would like to thank Brendan Fallis and Palm Heights for their generous donations to the BCEG fund.
