A spectacular second showing of the world’s first art amusement park.

In 1987, Luna Luna debuted as the world’s first art amusement park in Hamburg, Germany. For one extraordinary summer, visitors could experience rides, games, and attractions by visionary artists like Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and David Hockney. However, shortly after its debut, Luna Luna’s treasures were packed into shipping containers and forgotten in Texas for more than three decades.

Fast-forward to today: Luna Luna has been rescued and restored by a team of four partners, including SSS founder Michael Goldberg and Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment. Following a historic debut in Los Angeles in late 2023, where it was called "The Art Event of The Year", Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy has now arrived at The Shed in New York City.

The New York show sees key elements of the Los Angeles edition adapted to the unique footprint of its NYC home alongside a refreshed narrative developed by Something Special Studios. After marveling at Keith Haring’s carousel, stepping inside Salvador Dalí’s surreal Dalídom pavilion, or even saying “I do” at André Heller’s Wedding Chapel, guests can browse the many archival materials that document the park’s creation and its meticulous restoration, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the effort to bring this forgotten treasure back to life.

Also new to the New York iteration are theatrical, roving performances by Poncili Creación, a Puerto Rican art collective known for its larger-than-life puppets for the show's NYC run. Poncili was also commissioned to create an interactive play area within the exhibition titled PonciliLand.

The limited run of Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy is now open at The Shed in New York City. Tickets are now on sale through January 5, 2025 at lunaluna.com.
