A half marathon supporting women in sport.

LA13.1 was created to be Nike's first-ever half marathon in LA. In addition to training to run the race, SSS developed the graphic identity for 13.1 and led the spatial design for the race route and finishers village.

The visual identity was inspired by that of the 1984 Summer Olympics, which not only took place in Los Angeles, but also marked the first time a women’s marathon event was included within the Olympic Games. SSS adapted the ’84 color palette to create a modern interpretation, representing the running legacy of women in Los Angeles and the community as a whole. Unfortunately, the half marathon was canceled due to COVID-19.
